Kitchen Redux - Part Three

Here are some more pictures of the kitchen remodeling....

All of the cabinets are in on the sink side.

The lower cabinets are in on the stove side.

I have to some plumbing and electrical for the sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher.

Lois has decorated the little landing counter.  We chose a Silestone countertop and backsplash that were similar to the Terazzo floors without clashing with it.

Here you can see where the pantry was replaced with cabinets.

Here you can see the whole kitchen with new cabinets, countertops and appliances.  It looks like Chantel has moved in as well (note the toys at the other end).

Kitchen Redux - Part 2

Published 8/18/2005 by jongerow in General | Personal

The cabinets I'm using in the remodeling project have all been delivered.  They're sitting in the Florida room for now.  What I got were real wood plywood cabinets with real maple doors from Bay Area Plywood.

It looks like a hell of a lot more cabinets when they're not installed and all sitting on the floor of your Florida room.

Mmm..... realllll... wooooood!!!!

Now I'm ready to move them through the living room and get them ready to hang on the walls.

The first cabinet to go up goes over the refrigerator, which is a nice start because originally there was no cabinet above the refrigerator at all.

Kitchen Redux

Published 8/18/2005 by jongerow in General | Personal

I took these pictures while we were reconditioning our kitchen.....

The kitchen is a galley kitchen.  The cabinets are water damaged partical board and the counter top is laminated partical board.

Part of what we're going to do is tear out this pantry and put in a couple tall vertical cabinets that will match the rest of the cabinets.

I actually like the layout here, so although everything is going to get replaced other than the refrigerator, I'm replacing the drop-in stove top with another drop-in stove top and I'm replacing the wall oven with another wall oven.

The back-splash is currently these brushed copper tiles.  We love these tiles, but they're not in good enough shape to suvive removal and reinstallation, so they're going to have to go.  We'll replace them with a back splash that matches the counter-top and paint the walls the rest of the way up.

The tiles on the stove side have all been removed.

And here I'm working on the sink side.  The cabinets are already down and I'm working on removing the tiles.  Chantel is helping by carrying removed tiles over to the trash bag.

I almost have the sink side of the kitchen done.

Chantel thinks she's going to help with the demolition of the pantry.

The old appliances are removed and now I'm ready to pull the cabinets.

It's all wall now!  No more cabinets, tile or appliances.  Now to demo the pantry walls (left of photo).

Wall and shelves removed, now we just need to do some drywall work.
